Do you know of a soldier that we haven’t identified?

It is important to note, that the He Rau Mahara, Roll of Honour is not exhaustive and it is likely more soldiers will be identified as whānau continue to come forward with information.

If you have any information on a whānau member or soldier who enlisted in The Great War and is of Ngāi Tahu descent then please get in touch with our project team.

Do you have more information or would like to correct information on an identified Ngāi Tahu soldier?

Throughout World War One and especially in its early months, there was great enthusiasm to enlist. As a consequence, it was not uncommon for young men to change their personal details (Names, dates of birth and next of kins) enabling them to enlist ‘in the war to end all wars’.

These inconsistencies have been have been noted in listings where they have been identified, however there will be instances where inaccuracies may still remain.

If you have any further information you would like to share then please get in touch with us.

Do you have photographs of our soldiers?

While every effort has been made to include a photograph of each Ngāi Tahu soldier who served in World War One, unfortunately some remain unavailable. If you have, or are aware of photographs that we could include in future projects, please contact Whakapapa Ngāi Tahu.
